We went for our 18 week ultrasound on Thursday & we found out that we are having a girl!
We also got some not so good news as well. Our little Madeline Grace has a Omphalocele.
Basically what that is is when the bowel, liver, and possibly other organs form outside of the abdomen in a sac due to a defect in the muscle of the abdominal wall. At about 10-12 weeks the skin of the baby will grow around this and the sac will go where it is supposed to..... inside. That did not happen. The chances of this happening depends on the size of the omphalocele, but it is very rare. We are not sure what the extent of the omphalocele is. We will be going on Thursday July 3rd for a detailed scan, a echocardiagram and a amnio. The thing about a omphalcele is that it can be an indicator to other genetic or chromosomal disorders (such as downs.) they did not see any other indication to that, but we are in deep prayer for our baby girl.
We truly are praying for a good report from the doctor on Thursday and a miracle healing. We really need your prayers as well. The more people praying the better. We will keep you updated on what we learn.
