Update on Madeline Grace

Thursday, July 03, 2008

I just posted this on our carepage as well, but I thought I would put it on here. Again, you can just go to www.carepages.com, click on VISIT, register and then enter in MadelineGrace08.

It feels like I have been waiting an eternity to just update this with new information (it's been 6 days since we found out about Madeline's omphalocele.) We went to our detailed US & echocardiogram today and it was all good new!!! PRAISE GOD!!!
1. There are no additional abnormalities. We were able to get perfect clear shots of EVERYTHING! Her hands opening and closing (no clenched fists, no extra digits) in fact she waved a couple of times!
Her feet are perfect (no club foot, no extra toes) Her spine is perfect. Her Limbs are the right size/length. Her kidneys look perfect (no extra fluid). All of her head measurements are right on. Her size is right on. No extra skin on the back of her neck. Madeline’s heart look PERFECT!!! All of these mean she is healthy! 2. This also means that she had no physical traits of a chromosomal defect! Based on this information we decided against getting an amnio. We are just having faith that God has her under His wing as far at those go. We said from the beginning that if there were no physical indicators of a chromosomal problem then we would forgo the amnio. 3. Madeline's omphalocele is considered small!!!! Currently it contains only a part of undialated bowel. There is no liver inside of it as they originally thought! We believe that this was God already starting the healing process!!! Also all of her other intestines are in the right spot and the right size!!!!!
We are so happy about this new we can barely contain ourselves!!! In our eyes this truly is our best-case scenario outcome!
We are not sure what the plan for monitoring this will be yet. We will be having a Multi-disciplinary conference with all of the surgeons, and specialists and our genetic counselor in the coming week. Please continue to pray that God would lead these professional who will be taking care of our family! Even though this is the best-case scenario for us, there is still an infant who will have to go through a surgery and recovery. We are still lifting Madeline up, but I can truly say that our faith has been multiplied in one day!!!!!
Thank you so much everyone for your prayers and support!
We are so excited about the testimony that Madeline will be to the faithfulness, the grace and the promises of God.
Love,
Sam, Erin & Ava too!

Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for he who promised is faithful. Hebrews 10:23
