I just wanted to start this post with thanks.
We have been so blessed and God has been so faithful the past 6 months since finding out about Madeline's omphalocele.
She has recovered beautifully from her surgery and is doing really well.
She is eating well and doing all of the normal infant type things. (eat/sleep/poo/repeat).
We are so thankful to God and to all of you who have faithfully prayed for our family and our little girl.
We are thankful that we have Madeline home with us and that she is thriving and growing!
We are so thankful and we can't wait to see the things that God has planned for our family.
Having said all of that, we now know why Madeline had the omphalocele.
Madeline has been diagnosed with a syndrome called Beckwith-Wiedemann syndrome and an abdominal wall defect is one of the symptoms of this.
We did know that Beckwith was a possibility, but we hoped that the omphalocele would be an isolated problem.
You can read more about Beckwith HERE.
The main complication is that children with it have a higher risk for 2 types of cancer. Because of this Maddie will have to have a blood test every 6 weeks until she is 4 and an abdominal ultrasound every 3 months until she is 8.
We are asking that you continue to lift our family up in prayer if you think of us.
Please pray for continued wisdom for the doctors that we will see.
Please pray for Madeline's body to remain healthy.
And most of all please pray for healing for her.
Thank you so much for your continued support and love.
We are so Thankful.
Love,
Sam, Erin, Ava & Madeline

Enter into his gates with thanksgiving,
into his courts with praise:
be thankful unto him,
and bless his name.
